Predator 224 Max Performance
Exhaust Upgrade Guide
The stock muffler is the biggest bottleneck on the Predator 224. Upgrading to a performance header pipe and muffler can unlock up to 1.5+ HP and significantly more torque. This guide covers the best exhaust setups for every build level.
Starting Point
What Comes Stock
The Predator 224 ships with a standard box-style muffler. While quiet, it is extremely restrictive, forcing the engine to work harder to push out exhaust gases. This heat buildup can also reduce the life of your valves and gaskets. On the 224cc engine, the increased displacement makes the stock muffler even more of a "choke point" than it is on the 212.
Standard box muffler, internal baffles, steel construction
Important Note: While many Predator 212 exhausts will fit, the 224 exhaust bolts are often spaced slightly differently (approx 1.80" center-to-center). Some 212 headers may require slight drilling of the mounting holes to slide onto the 224 studs.

Performance Exhaust Comparison
Choosing the right exhaust depends on your frame clearance and how much noise you can tolerate. A straight pipe offers the most flow but is extremely loud, while a header with a screw-on muffler balances performance and sound.

How to Install Your Performance Header
Installing a header on a Predator 224 is a 15-minute job, but doing it right prevents exhaust leaks and stripped bolts.
Important Note
Don't Forget to Re-Jet!
Adding a performance exhaust allows the engine to flow much more air. If you don't increase the fuel flow, your engine will run **lean**, which causes overheating and potential engine damage. Check our Predator 224 Carb Guide for the correct jetting specs after installing your exhaust.
